LAPORTE COUNTY | A Westville area man fell from a second-floor balcony onto a lawn chair and wound up with his leg impaled by one of the chair's legs.
LaPorte County police were called about 2 a.m. Sunday to University Park apartments on U.S. 421 across from Purdue University North Central.
The investigation shows Robert Pranke was celebrating his 21st birthday at a party in one of the apartments.
Police said Pranke was intoxicated when he apparently leaned against the second floor railing and the railing gave way, causing him to fall.
Pranke, who lives at the apartment complex, landed on a lawn chair and one of the legs penetrated his thigh, police said.
He was transported to Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Michigan City.
