WESTVILLE | A Westville woman could face time in jail on allegations she allowed her mother with severe dementia to remain on the floor naked for an extended period after a fall.
Linda Meadows, 63, is charged in LaPorte Circuit Court with Class D felony neglect of a dependent.
According to court documents, the 85-year-old woman fell on May 18 while walking in a New Durham Estates home she shared with her daughter, and Meadows allowed her to remain on the floor covered by a comforter for 12 hours before calling 911.
Police said Meadows was very agitated and tearful and asked to be taken to jail, saying "she didn't care anymore," according to court records.
Police said her mother was treated at a hospital for bruises.
Her mother has since been admitted to a Valparaiso nursing home, police said.
