LaPorte County Sheriff John Boyd has announced the most recent graduate of the Northwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Deputy Dan Kesling graduated from the police academy last month.
Kesling was a member of the 38th session of the academy which was 15 weeks long with training that covered all facets of law enforcement including firearms, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, criminal and traffic law. Kesling was recognized at the graduation ceremony for outstanding achievement after having achieved a perfect score on his criminal law test; he was the only member of his class to do so.
Kesling is a 2012 graduate of New Prairie High School and attended IUSB. He is a military veteran having served three years of active duty in the United States Army. He is currently a member of the Indiana National Guard.
“We are very pleased with Deputy Kesling’s success at the police academy and welcome him among the ranks of our department’s patrol division," Boyd said.
