A Kingsford Heights-area man died after colliding with another motorist Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Jerry Seymour, 75, died from apparent cardiac arrest he apparently suffered behind the wheel of his car and a broken neck sustained in the crash, LaPorte County Coroner John Sullivan said.
Police said Seymour was southbound on Range Road when he turned too sharply onto Chatfield Road. He struck the front of a westbound vehicle driven by Edmund McGraw, 19, of Kingsford Heights. McGraw was not injured.
The investigation shows Seymour appeared to be suffering a medical episode judging by statements from witnesses just prior to the collision, Kingsford Heights Town Marshal Chris Fine said.
"That's why he went unconscious and hit that car. It's very unfortunate," Sullivan said.
