ROLLING PRAIRIE | A man fatally shot a dog that was attacking his pregnant goat inside his barn Wednesday outside Rolling Prairie.
LaPorte County Police were called about 5 p.m. Wednesday to the 4200 block of North County Road 700 East.
The homeowner, Robert Dobbs, after notified of the attack by a neighbor, went out to his barn where he saw a dog that looked similar to a Husky holding one of goats by the neck.
Hobbs fired his .410 shotgun hitting the dog in the chest, police said.
According to police the owner of the dog, Nancy Biggum, told police she was walking her three unleashed dogs and one of them ran off. She followed the dog and witnessed Dobbs shooting the animal.
The officer told Biggum he had a right to shoot the dog and that she was liable for the $100 value of the goat.
