Michigan City man arrested after high-speed chase
MICHIGAN CITY | A 33-year-old man was arrested Sunday following a high-speed chase from Rolling Prairie to Michigan City.
Tyrone Morris, of Michigan City, was taken to LaPorte County Jail and later charged with Class C felony possession of cocaine and Class D felony resisting law enforcement.
The chase began about 1 p.m. after Sgt. Ron Heeg clocked a black Cadillac at 77 mph westbound on U.S. 20 at County Road 450 East. The chase proceeded westbound through Springville then onto Michigan Boulevard in Michigan City. Police said stop sticks placed in the road flattened the front passenger-side tire on the car, and Morris was stopped on Ninth Street.
During a foot chase, police said Morris dropped a plastic bag. He was apprehended in a yard in the 400 block of East Eighth Street. Police said the bag contained 16 grams of cocaine worth an estimated $1,000.
