MICHIGAN CITY | Mayor Ron Meer would like to announce that the first code enforcement sweep of the year will be conducted next week. The two-day sweep will be conducted on Thursday, May16 and Friday, May 17 and will encompass an area bound by Springland Avenue on the north, Vail Street on the west, Michigan Boulevard on the south, and Carroll Avenue on the east.
City personnel and equipment from various departments will be participating. The Michigan City Police Department and the City of Michigan City inspectors will be issuing warnings and citations for code violations.
The Michigan City Fire Department will also be available in a city-wide manner to assist any elderly or disabled persons with the installation or checking of their smoke detectors. For support, please call the Michigan City Fire Department at: 219-873-1440.
A safe and clean city is a vital part of enhancing Michigan City’s image for our visitors and providing a better quality of life for our residents. Periodically, a new area of the city will be targeted for a two-day code enforcement sweep.
