WESTVILLE | A correctional officer working at Westville Correctional Facility was arrested Saturday on charges of bribery and trafficking with an offender.
Charlie Bolton, 28, of Michigan City was reporting for work when correctional officers found contraband during a routine search, said Westville Correctional Facility Superintendent Mark Levenhagen.
Prison officials did not disclose what items were found.
Bolton, a prison employee since 2010, was placed on emergency suspension without pay.
Levenhagen said an offender who may have been involved with the trafficking attempt was placed in segregation pending further investigation.
