MICHIGAN CITY | Twelve railroad crossings in Michigan City and The Pines will be getting repaired this month.
According to the Michigan City's mayor's office, CSX Railroad will begin repairs to crossings in the city Sept. 12 on Ohio Street, Buffalo Street, Wabash Street, Franklin Street, Carroll Avenue, Greenwood Avenue, Roeske Avenue, Karwick Road, Royal Road, Meer Road and Freyer Road.
Weather permitting, the plan is for all but two of the crossings to reopen Sept. 18 with crossings at Meer Road and Freyer Road. opening on Sept. 17.
Detour signs will be put in place to help guide drivers to alternative routes during the closings, officials said.
A 12th CSX crossing just to the west in The Pines on County Road 1600 North also will be closed for repairs from Sept. 10-12.
