LAPORTE | One person was killed Sunday night after a car crossed a median and drove into the path of a semitrailer on the Indiana Toll Road, police said.
The crash just after 7 p.m. Central time on eastbound Interstate 80/90 about five miles east of the Ind. 39 exit to LaPorte continued to slow traffic about 9 p.m. Both lanes of the interstate were closed, and traffic was getting by on the shoulder, Indiana State Police said.
A male and female were in a westbound car that crossed the median, police said. One of the people was killed and the other was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, police said.
Police did not identify the victims Sunday night, pending notification of family.
The driver of the semi was not hurt, police said.
