LAPORTE COUNTY | A man convicted of murdering two children in Long Beach in the 1960s then molesting a boy in more recent years was supposed to be released from prison again next week.

However, Richard Dobeski, now 65, will have to wait for his next taste of freedom.

Dobeski was due to be released Feb. 22 from New Castle Correctional Facility, where he is serving an 11-year sentence for child molesting and possession of child pornography.

New Castle Correctional Facility spokesman Mike Smith said Dobeski on Feb. 1 had his release date pushed back 180 days because of misconduct.

Smith said he could not disclose the details surrounding Dobeski's conduct violation.

His projected release date is now Sept. 1.

Dobeski in 2003 was released after serving a 40-year sentence for the 1964 strangling deaths of Shawn and Cary Johnston, who were just 6 and 3 at the time.

In 2003, Dobeski was released and was living in Westville in 2007 when a 7-year-old boy accused Dobeski of fondling him, triggering an investigation that resulted in his conviction the following year.
