MICHIGAN CITY | A Lake County man was arrested Sunday morning for allegedly trying to stab a woman who he said had sex with a man whom he had hoped to seduce.
Andrew Zahn, 21, of Highland, was charged with felony intimidation with a deadly weapon and public intoxication.
About 3 a.m. Sunday, LaPorte County authorities were called to an apartment in the 300 block of Woods Edge Drive, just outside of Michigan City.
According to investigators, Zahn got into an argument with a woman at the apartment over their relationship with another man.
The 20-year-old woman told police Zahn became angry, told her that he hated her and raised a knife as if he was going to stab her.
She and the other man then locked themselves in a bedroom.
According to police, Zahn, using different knives, kept stabbing the locked bedroom door while again yelling "I hate you."
Upon arrival, officers followed a blood trail from the apartment to behind a tree where Zahn was hiding.
Zahn told investigators he is gay and began a relationship with the man when the woman came home and had sex with the other man, police said.
Zahn admitted that he became upset at his advances being rejected, police said.
According to police, the blood was from a vodka bottle Zahn was carrying that he broke in the parking lot of the apartment complex cutting his hand.
