MICHIGAN CITY | Kayle Maffei might just be the youngest person ever to be given Visit Michigan City LaPorte’s R.O.S.E. Award.
A 16-year-old high school student, Maffei has been a busser at McGinnis Pub in Michigan City since August. He was nominated by a customer who was very impressed with the young man’s service.
“Oh my goodness, where to begin,” said the customer. “This is probably this young man’s first job. He was so attentive, courteous and friendly. This young man will go a long way with this kind of positive attitude.”
The monthly R.O.S.E. Award is given to a local customer service worker who is nominated for service above and beyond, by customers. Along with a framed certificate, winners receive a rose corsage with a $100 bill folded inside. McGinnis Pub always matches the award with another $100. R.O.S.E winners are invited to Visit Michigan City LaPorte’s annual R.O.S.E. Luncheon. Maffei will also be nominated for a statewide Hoosier Hospitality Award.
“I’m very excited surprised and happy,” Maffei said. “I want to thank whoever nominated me. I work behind the scenes and I don’t always come into contact with customers.”
