LONG BEACH | Nearly 60 people were arrested Friday at an alleged underage drinking party in Long Beach.
According to police, officers were dispatched to a loud party complaint in the 2000 block of Juneway Drive.
Police said officers spoke to several of partygoers who were holding alcoholic beverages.
The homeowner, Julie Smith, told officers that no alcohol was being consumed in her house. She also refused to allow police to go inside her home but complied when officers produced a search warrant, said Long Beach Police Chief Robert Sulkowski.
Fifty-eight people under the age of 21 were found inside the home and most of them had consumed an alcoholic beverage, police said.
Police said 29 adults under 21 and 29 juveniles all were taken into custody for underage drinking. Smith was arrested and charged with neglect of a dependent and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
