Saenz was a member of the Japanese Olympiad team for three years, and this year served as captain. The team won first place statewide in 2012 and this year placed third in the state. She is yearbook Editor in Chief and served as section editor while a junior.
Saenz played softball throughout her high school career. She was junior varsity team captain as a sophomore, and varsity team captain this year. She lettered her sophomore through senior years.

Shubhra Murarka, a Michigan City resident, is the daughter of Madhukar and Krishna Murarka. A freshman at the University of Chicago, she is contemplating a double major in physics and English since her future plans may include becoming a doctor or a professor.
Murarka graduated in 2012 from La Lumiere School, and currently carries a 3.3 GPA at the University of Chicago. She is active with the South Asian Student Association, a cultural student club on campus, and is applying to be on the student club’s board next year.
In the biological division of the University of Chicago, Murarka is completing work-study in the neurobiology lab where she works as a student general technician helping doctoral graduate students with experiments and other lab duties.
Murarka’s community service while in college includes volunteering for “Art Should,” in which University of Chicago students create after school art programs for students in Chicago and South Bend elementary schools where lack of funding has discontinued art programs.
