MICHIGAN CITY | During the month of April, Members Advantage Credit Union will be collecting military donations to send to our troops. Donations can be dropped off at both Michigan City and Portage branch locations at any time in April and during Member’s Advantage Credit Union’s free Community Shred Days from 9 a.m. to noon April 20 and 27. Desired items include shampoo and conditioner, non-perishable food items, doggie treats and toys, and more.
“We are very proud to be holding a Give Back To Our Troops event,” said Frank Beachnau, president of Members Advantage Credit Union. “Members Advantage will be collecting many items that our troops need every day, and we are excited to show them our appreciation by sending them these donated supplies.”
Members Advantage Credit Union will be pairing with local ROTCs, VFWs, and Supporter’s of Military to package and deliver donated items to troops. Donations will be collected throughout April during branch hours. An approved list of all items requested by troops is available at www.macuonline.org, or at any Members Advantage Credit Union branch location.
Beachnau added that combining this donation drive effort with the Credit Union’s Shred Days is a fantastic opportunity to give back to the community in more ways than one. “Our free community shred days are open to the public for safe document shredding and are also serving as large drop-off locations for troop donations,” said Beachnau.
The Members Advantage Community Shred Days will allow community members to bring old documents, CDs or videotapes to a mobile shredding unit for safe disposal at no cost. The Shred Days will be at the Members Advantage Credit Union’s Portage Branch, 6170 U.S. 6 April 20 and again on April 27 at the Michigan City Members Advantage branch, 3064 S. Ohio St., both from 9 a.m. to noon.
