MICHIGAN CITY || A man was charged Wednesday with aggravated battery after a Monday afternoon fracas that left him and a victim bleeding.
Joshua Frank Jr., 30, of 111 S. Porter St., was arraigned on the charge before Judge Kathleen Lang and is being held on $25,000 bond, according to Michigan City police. He is being held at the LaPorte County Jail.
Officers at 12:55 p.m. Monday found Jason Nelson, 32, of 111 S. Porter St., lying in the middle of the street and bleeding. While he was treated by emergency medical personnel, officers went to Frank's apartment.
Frank was combative and officers were threatened by a barking, growling 80-pound pit bull, according to Michigan City police. Officers used a Taser on the pit bull. The dog was attended to by Michigan City Animal Control.
Both Frank and Nelson were taken to Franciscan St. Anthony Health hospital for treatment. Nelson was then airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital.
