MICHIGAN CITY | Police in Michigan City will use Twitter to issue public safety alerts following an attempt by two men to grab a woman.
The account can be found on Twitter @MichiganCityPol.
About 3 p.m. Tuesday, police said the woman was jogging at Striebel Pond on the city's west side.
She ran by two men who tried speaking to her.
After completing a couple of laps, police said one of the men appeared near a wood line and tried pulling her into the woods.
The other man was approaching when the woman managed to break free and ran to her car getting away.
Both men were described as white and in their 20's. One of the men was wearing a white hat with black writing, a gray Nike t-shirt, and denim shorts. The second male has brown hair, wearing a red Ttshirt, and denim shorts.
Michigan City Police Detective Bureau Commander Lt. Cary Brinkman said a Twitter account will be implemented by the department to alert more citizens about emergency or dangerous situations.
Brinkman said people can receive alerts by creating an account for themselves on Twitter and search for Michigan City Police Department.
