A man was allegedly drunk when he crashed into two Michigan City police squad cars and caused a power outage during a chase.
Aaron Lemons, 47, of Michigan City, is charged in LaPorte Superior Court with resisting law enforcement and operating while intoxicated, both Class D felonies, along with several misdemeanor counts.
According to police, Lemons hit another motorist early Thursday in the 200 block of East 10th Street and fled.
That triggered a chase and collisions with two squad cars and a NIPSCO pole at Grace and Walker streets, police said.
The chase continued for about a half mile before Lemons' apprehension in the 300 block of North Carroll Avenue.
Michigan City Police Chief of Detectives Lt. Cary Brinkman said the collision with the pole caused an eight-block power outage.
He estimated the damage at $10,000.
There were no injuries, he said
