MICHIGAN CITY | Effie Jackson began her correctional career as a Correctional Officer in January 2008 at the Indiana State Prison. In October, Jackson received the Correctional Officer of the Year Award.
Her co-workers have said she has a positive attitude and completes her duties in an outstanding manner and has proven time and time again that she is a hard-working and reliable. The Michigan City mother of two communicates well with staff and offenders, co-workers said.
"We are very fortunate to have people of this caliber available to serve this facility and the Department of Correction," Superintendent Bill Wilson said in a statement. "Congratulations, Ms. Jackson."
