MICHIGAN CITY | South Shore train service between Michigan City and South Bend is expected to resume Monday, officials said.

Service between the two stations was stopped Thursday after a garbage truck damaged a train bridge in LaPorte County.

The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation has used buses to transport commuters between the two stations.

John Parsons, NICTD's spokesman, said in an email the regular train service would resume Monday with the first train leaving South Bend early in the morning.
