LAPORTE | A man traveling a LaPorte-area highway wound up with his car covered in sauerkraut.

Andrew Killin IV, 19, was northbound on U.S. 35 about 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to LaPorte County police.

Two vehicles ahead of him swerved to avoid a box in the roadway.

The Kingsford Heights area man was unable to avoid the box and struck it. The box contained two metal one gallon cans of sauerkraut which ended up covering Killin's 2003 Pontiac Gran Prix, police said.
