A man heading to Porter County to take care of a child support matter wound up in the hospital after jumping out of a moving car.
Timothy McGinnis, 46, wound up in a snowbank but apparently that didn't soften his landing much.
According to LaPorte County police, the Ohio man was staying with a LaPorte resident, who was driving him to Porter County for a case involving child support.
He expressed a need for something to eat but when the driver said she would wait until they got to Westville to get food he became angry and jumped out the passenger side door on Ind. 2 near the LaPorte County fairgrounds, police said.
McGinnis landed in a snowbank and was admitted to IU Health LaPorte Hospital complaining of neck and head pain, said police.
According to police, McGinnis told police he did not remember jumping from the car or anything else about the incident.
