Supporters of the South Shore Line see the proposed  expansion of the South Shore Rail into Dyer as an opportunity to get closer to the goal of extending service south to Lowell and east to Valparaiso in the future.

The Times Media Co. is holding a short video contest entitled “How Do You Ride?” targeted to amateur Lake and Porter county filmmakers.

To enter, create a two-minute video about why you would like to see the South Shore Line expand in Northwest Indiana. The deadline to submit the short films is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28.

To submit an entry, visit www.nwitimes.com/howdoyouride.

Video themes should focus on what expanded commuter rail service would mean to Northwest Indiana. Those entering are encouraged to use their own creative expression to celebrate the art, beauty, inspiration and a personal connection to the South Shore Line and its expansion.

One winner will be selected to receive a Go Pro video camera. A select group of submitted videos will be recognized on the NWI.com website.

Additionally, contest participants may have their work  displayed or used on The Times website, The Times Social media outlets and additional sponsor websites/outlets.
