LAPORTE | A 61-year-old Crown Point woman is accused of killing her husband 10 years ago in Prescott, Ariz.

Jane Leslie Carpenter was arrested Monday on a first degree murder warrant issued out of Prescott, according to an Indiana State Police news release.

Her husband, Brent Carpenter, 71, was stabbed and beaten to death June 4, 2002, in a home he shared with Jane Carpenter in Prescott's Yavapai Hills subdivision, according to the Prescott Police Department.

Jane Carpenter moved to Indiana shortly after her husband's death.

Additional information received by Prescott police led to the murder charge against Jane Carpenter, according to Indiana State Police.

Prescott police collaborated with Indiana State Police Detective Chris Campione to track down Jane Carpenter, who operated an interior design business out of her Crown Point home.

She was taken into custody when she arrived at a client's LaPorte home and transported to LaPorte County Jail.

Prescott police investigators will work with the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office to have Jane Carpenter extradited to Arizona, according to the Prescott Police Department.
