WESTVILLE | A 46-year-old Rochester, Ind., woman was arrested and charged with attempted trafficking while visiting her husband at the Westville Correctional Facility on Thanksgiving, officials said.

Kathleen Schlemmer was visiting her husband, 40-year-old Melvin Schlemmer, on Thanksgiving and tried to pass contraband to him, according to the Indiana Department of Correction.

Kathleen Schlemmer was arrested and taken to the LaPorte County Jail.

Marvin Schlemmer was sentenced in Fulton County Court in November 2011 to 12 years in prison with four years suspended to probation after being convicted of possession of amphetamines. His projected release date is June 24, 2016.

Melvin Schlemmer was placed under investigation and moved to the segregation unit at Westville after his wife's arrest and may face additional charges, the Department of Correction said.
