While the swine flu alert may change the way some corporations do business, local gyms are following their regular routines for disinfecting equipment and providing antibacterial products for their members.
"We're always concerned about health issues, and keep a very hygienic club," said Marci Crozier, general manager of Omni 41 Health & Fitness Connection in Schererville, which is owned by St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Centers.
"We provide material to wipe down the equipment and provide our members with antibacterial sprays. We also have antibacterial gels in our playroom and Parisi Speed School," Crozier said. "We encourage our members to cover their mouths if they sneeze or cough."

At Fitness Pointe in Munster, it's also business as usual, said Elise Sims, of the Community Healthcare System, the fitness center's owner.
"We always have antibacterial gels and regularly clean the equipment," Sims said. "We haven't changed anything (because of the swine flu alert)."
The several World Gym locations in Highland and the Chicago area "always have had disinfecting stations for our members," manager Mike Novitski said.
"Health clubs in general have to be health conscious," he said. "We always use disinfectants on our equipment and pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our facilities."
