A Lansing man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to multiple counts of criminal sexual assault after being accused of raping his girlfriend's 15-year-old daughter more than 100 times over the course of a year and a half.
From January of 2005 to July of 2006, Randy Wise, 56, entered the bedroom of his girlfriend's daughter and raped her two to three times a week while her mother was at the hospital for dialysis treatment, according to Assistant State's Attorney James Pullos.
On Nov. 11, 2005, the girl gave birth, and DNA testing later showed Wise is the father, Pullos said.
Wise and the girl's mother convinced the daughter to put the baby up for adoption, according to her uncle, with whom the daughter now lives.
Investigators and the girl tracked down the baby through adoption papers, and had a DNA test performed, which pointed to Wise as the father, Pullos said.
Wise was arrested Jan. 30 and charged with four counts of criminal sexual assault and six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
If convicted, he could face up to 60 years in prison.
Wise is being held on a $300,000 bond, and Cook County Judge Thomas Condon issued an order of protection for the victim should Wise make bail.
