NEWTON COUNTY | A 40-year-old Wheatfield man died Sunday after his motorcycle collided with a truck on State Road 14 near County Road 250 West, Newton County police reported.

A truck driven by Ezra Myers, 20, of Morocco, was turning onto County Road 250 West when a 1991 Harley Davidson driven by Chad Scolley attempted to pass the truck, police said.

Chad Scolley lost control of his motorcycle after the vehicles collided, and the motorcycle slid off the roadway, police said. Chad Scolley and his wife Teresa Scolley, a passenger on the motorcycle, were thrown from the vehicle.

Chad Scolley was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Teresa Scolley, 44, was transported to Riverside Hospital, police said.

Myers refused medical treatment at the scene, police said.
