Ann Ruth Smith (nee Williams), age 94, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017. She was the oldest of four children born March 23, 1923 in Louisville, KY. She is preceded in death by her parents Virginia and Clifford Sr., two siblings, Clifford Jr. and Mildred, and her husband, Garrett G. Smith.

After high school Ann received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from The Kentucky State College for Negros. During college she was Director of Nursery School at the Friendly Inn Settlement House in Cleveland, OH. Later she became the Camp and Field Director of the Jefferson (Negro) Girl Scouts District in Louisville, KY. Ann married Garrett Glass Smith on September 11, 1952.

Ann leaves behind four children, Gayle D, Wyatt L (Denise), Angela L (Charlie) Davis and Eric A (Diana) and her sister, Carolyn (Paul) McCree. She also will be missed by her four grandchildren, Cory, Courtney, Kristin and Garrett and her dog, Kuma. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Ann's honor to The American Cancer Society.
