DOLTON, IL - Armida 'Ann' Segalla Bortolon of Dolton, Illinois, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2017 at the age of 89. She was born June 7, 1928 to Caroline (DeRossi) and Joseph Segalla. Armida is survived by her loving children: Carol Locke (adored son-in-law Jack) of Highland, IN and Joan Bortolon of Springfield, Illinois; grandsons: Nicholas Locke (Dawn York) of Sugar Land, Texas and Andrew Locke of Schererville, Indiana; and sister, Irene Nieroda of Mattawan, Michigan. Armida will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John Batista Bortolon; her parents; brothers: Anthony and Luciano Segalla; and sister, Dolores Wegeler.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 at 9:15 a.m. at KUIPER FUNERAL HOME, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow Friday, January 5, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 880 E. 154th St., South Holland, IL. Father John Powers officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Memory Lanes, Dolton, IL. Friends are invited to meet with the family Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (prayer service 7:30 p.m.) at Kuiper Funeral Home.
A lifelong resident of Dolton, she was a homemaker and seamstress. Armida was a creative and thoughtful woman who was known to many as a Brownie leader, sewing teacher, crafter and Mrs. Santa Claus. Armida was a talented cook who was famous for her Christmas cookies as well as Italian specialties. She was a truly special lady who made everyone she met feel special.
