Fortunato "Fred" A. Manzo, age 77, of Hammond, passed away Monday, February 3, 2003. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Joan; four daughters, Sheila (Dr. John) Ancich of Schererville, Marian (Gil) Rivera of Valparaiso, Therese Vasquez of Portage and Carole (Brad) Ladwig of Hobart; three sons, Frederick (Kazuyo) and Paul Manzo, both of Hammond and Dr. John Manzo of Canada; eight grandchildren: Lisa (Michael) Bell, Robbie, Elizabeth, Bryan, Jillian, Rachel, Eric and Matthew; one brother, Angelo Manzo of Chicago. Also, loving pets, Mimi, Friskie and Lucky. Preceded in death by two brothers, Carmine and Daniel and sister, Ann.

Funeral services Thursday, February 6, 2003 at 9:30 A.M. from the Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 7109 Calumet Ave., Hammond, for 10:00 A.M. Mass at St. John Bosco Catholic Church with Fr. Richard Orlinski officiating. At rest, St. John Cemetery, Hammond. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home. Prayer service 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Fred was a longtime area resident and a member of St. John Bosco Church. Retired from the Ford Motor Company with thirty-three years of service and a Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a avid gardener and animal lover. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and loving pets.

Bette was a supervisor at the Anderson Company until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church. Preceded in death by parents, Ross and Florence Engraffia and husbands, William D. Young Sr. and Michael Miller. He was born in Valparaiso on June 15, 1967, son of Bob and Lois (nee Myers) Pastor, Sr. of Valparaiso. Married on May 12, 2001 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Valparaiso, to Cindy (nee Snitchler) Pastor, who survives in Valparaiso; also survived by a daughter, Taylor; sister, Melonie G. (Richard) Holland of Valparaiso; brother, Bobby (Debbie) Pastor Jr. of Valparaiso; mother-in-law, Sue Snitchler of Hobart, IN; three nieces: Katty Holland, Ashley Pastor and Kylie Christmas; one nephew Aaron Snitchler; brother-in-law, Chuck Snitchler of Hobart, IN; sister-in-law, Carri Snitchler of Portage, IN.

Mr. Pastor was a 1985 graduate of Valparaiso High School. He attended Glen Oaks College at Glen Oaks, Michigan. A Midwest Steel employee for 14 years as a Z.S. 9000 Co-ordinator. Wilhelmina Prentice "Minnie" age 91, of South Haven, passed away at home on Sunday, February 2, 2003. Minnie had been a South Haven area resident since 1935 and was a bank teller at Chesterton State Bank retiring in 1974 with 20 years of service. Minnie was a member of Portage United Methodist Church.

Minnie is survived by two sons, Frederick C. (Shirley) Prentice of South Haven and Lowell Lee (Judith) Prentice of Valparaiso; Daughter-in-law, Cayrol Prentice of Valparaiso; seven Grandchildren, 10 Great-grandchildren and one Great-Great-Grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford F. Prentice, son, Clifford D. Prentice and Great-Grandchild, Frederick Charles Prentice III.

Corrine A. Presco (nee Cwik), age 79, late of Calumet City, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2003. She is survived by three children: Wayne Presco, Cynthia (Michael) Pindara and Kathleen (Dale) LaBorde; and four grandchildren: Jason, Shawn, Nicholas and Susan. Preceded in death by her son, Dennis J. Presco, her father Albert Cwik and mother, Sophia (late Joseph) Rutkowski.

She was also employed with Wise Way Foods in Hobart, for many years. Patricia is survived by her loving husband, George; two daughters, Debbie (Patrick) Andrew of Abingdon, IL and Marsha (Mike) Caldwell of Hobart; one sister, Shirley Mahoney of Porter, IN; sister-in-law, Helen Leek of Hudson, FL; step-grandson, Mike Caldwell Jr.; and numerous loving nephews.

Asimo J. Sarantis, age 95 and 8 months, formerly of East Chicago, Indiana, who, in 1975 retired to Simi Valley, California, with her husband John Sarantis (deceased June, 1983), passed away in death on Tuesday, January 28, 2003.
