Jenny Glotzbach was a devoted Catholic who loved spending time with her family and loved ones, said her daughter, Kathy Santos.
“She loved having the grandkids come over, and at the holidays, she would have us over,” Santos said. “She was the type who was always concerned about everyone but herself.”
Jenny Glotzbach, 85, of Hobart, died Aug. 31. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church and the Ladies Rosary Sodality.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John Glotzbach, in 2003.
After her husband died, Glotzbach used God to keep herself strong, her daughter said.
“Losing Dad was terrible, but she constantly prayed and said the rosary,” she said. “As hard as it was, she never lost her faith.”
She had numerous health problems, including diabetes, arthritis and breathing problems. That didn’t deter her from attending church, her daughter said.
“She went as much as she could,” Santos said.
She loved to play games with her children and grandchildren, including 10,000 and Yahtzee.
She loved to cook, and made numerous Polish specialties, including pigs in a blanket.
Members of the family would gather to help her make them, Santos said.
“We would spend a day from morning until evening making two gigantic pans so there was enough to pass around to family and friends,” she said. “If she was going to do something, it was going to be for everyone.”
Santos said her mother cherished having her family around her.
“She had so many people who loved her,” she said.
