VALPARAISO, IN - James Lee Cullen aka 'Harmonica Man', 73, of Valparaiso passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017. He was born November 26, 1944, Gary, IN, graduated from East Gary High School where he excelled in track, cross country and basketball, and served proudly with the U.S. Army. Jimmy made his career as an engineer with the E J & E Railroad for over 25 years. A passion for music defined his life, mastering multiple brass instruments to play in the Valparaiso University Community Band, 'The German Band' and singing in Christ Lutheran Church choir.

Big Jim enriched the lives of everyone he met, showing them what love, joy, and compassion truly look like when freely given to others. He wants everyone to know that he will rest peacefully after waiting a lifetime to witness the true World Series Champions: The Chicago Cubs!

On December 18, 1993 he married Anne Demaree-Cullen who survives along with his children from his previous marriage to Irene Cullen: Noel (Holly) Cullen of Valparaiso, Yolanda (Michael) Tilford of Portage, Ryan (Sandy) Cullen of Lake Station, step children: Michael (Tabitha) Weber of Bloomington, IN, Peter (Lisa) Weber of Texas, Sara (Kei) Sato of Indianapolis; grandchildren: Aydin, Mia, Nolan, Evan, Kane, Gisselle, Jocelyn, Emily and Steven and one great granddaughter, Lilliana. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Jean and brother, Richard Kestle.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 5th, 2:00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 2610 Campbell St., Valparaiso. Visitation will precede the service from noon - 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the MSA Coalition or charity of the donor's choice.
