Christine Wright centered her life around her family and her faith, said Larry Wright, her husband of almost 57 years.
“Christine always had a friendly smile and led a purpose-filled life, he said.
Christine Wright, 75, of Valparaiso, died Jan. 3. She was a member of Calvary Church, Valparaiso. She served as a youth leader, Sunday School teacher and deaconess. She also founded a women’s ministry and sang in the choir.
Wright raised three daughters and served as a mentor for women of all ages, said her daughter, Melissa Gelinas.
“She loved teaching Bible studies in her home and touching the lives of others with her caring spirit,” she said. “(She) was quick to volunteer whenever there was a need.”
Daughter Janet Pullen said her mother was an avid reader of the Bible and other devotionals.
“She wore out several over the years, and put personal notations throughout,” she said.
The couple loved to travel, especially to Florida during the winter, and to Kentucky. They especially loved nature walks and seeing the mountains, he said.
Wright loved hosting dinners for family and entertaining friends, said her daughter, Carla Sparks.
“She made each person feel they were really special,” Sparks said.
Larry Wright said his wife loved spending time with their seven grandchildren, who called her called “Mamaw.” She loved to play games, sing and teach them life lessons.
“She somehow made each of them feel they were her favorite,” he said. “She was a beautiful person with a servant’s heart.”
