Carol Napier wasn‘t afraid to speak her mind, but she was absolutely devoted to her family, said her husband of 62 years, Jim Napier.
“I loved her personality and the kind of person she was,” he said. “She was such a great person.”
Carol Napier, 79, of Portage, died Sept. 22. She had worked as a hand assembler and security guard at Anderson Co. for 10 years. For about 15 years, she ran Willowcreek Foods in Portage. She was a graduate of Hammond Tech.
Jim Napier said he was introduced to his wife by her mother.
“We got along really well and we loved each other,” he said.
Carol Napier loved to read and enjoyed camping with her family.
She loved to cook and to bake and loved to make her husband chocolate pie. She learned to cook from her mother and then honed her craft through reading cook books and through making food for the Willowcreek grocery store.
“She could make just about anything,” he said.
For much of her life, she enjoyed rollerskating as a hobby. She skated until about 20 years ago, her husband said.
She loved being a mother and enjoyed being a part of her children’s lives.
“She loved being involved in their lives. She loved them very much,” he said. “She adored her grandkids. They got away with anything.”
