Learn to Cope

VALPARAISO | Together We Learn to Cope is an open, peer-to-peer support group for family members and friends of individuals who are living with a mental illness. A safe, stigma free environment allows individuals to feel safe sharing their feelings, experiences and questions. The group meets 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Mental Health America of Porter County, 402 E. Living With Lupus Support Group

VALPARAISO | The philosophy of this support groups is to provide a warm and caring environment where people with lupus, their family members, caregivers, and loved ones can share their experiences of coping and insights into living with lupus. LFA support groups encourage and accept people as they are, providing a comfortable learning environment in which they can develop the best coping strategies to reduce stress that often accompanies living with a chronic illness. Living With Lupus Support Group meets from 6 to 7 p.m. the last Wednesday of every month and will be facilitated by Cheryl Hart at Valplaraiso Health Center, 3800 St. Mary Drive. Free Beginners Yoga

Stamping card class

PORTAGE | Create special greeting cards with instructor Lisa Uporsky from 10 a.m. to noon at the Portage branch of the Porter County Public Library, 2665 Irving St. Participants will create 4 cards for $10. Pre-cut materials and cards will be provided; participants will need to bring scissors and tape or glue. Registration is required seven days prior to class date.
