VALPARAISO | A man who police said admitted visiting and downloading images from child pornography Web sites was arrested Friday on child pornography charges.
Dean Lessentine, 56, of Kouts, is facing two felony counts of possession of child pornography. He could receive as many as six years in prison if convicted of the charges.
Lessentine, who previously lived in Valparaiso, is accused of downloading child pornography while using a computer as a client at Porter-Starke Services in Valparaiso, Valparaiso police said.
A Porter-Starke official called authorities July 21 to report that Lessentine had downloaded 60 pictures of naked girls and clothed girls in provocative positions, Valparaiso police said. Porter-Starke officials banned him from computer use at the facility and removed him from their day service program, police said.
Police went to Lessentine's Valparaiso apartment but found he'd been evicted. A person associated with the apartments reported finding a piece of paper with child pornography Web sites on it, police said. Police learned Lessentine had moved to Kouts but didn't find him at home.
Police said officers began checking area businesses and found Lessentine using a computer at Kouts Public Library and viewing a Web site showing images of girls in Halloween outfits and gymnastic clothing.
Police said they asked for permission to search his apartment and found items that he admitted contained child pornography. Lessentine told police he has downloaded child pornography from Web sites. Police said he labeled himself a pervert.
