PORTAGE | Portage police said two brothers drank alcohol at a bar, got into a physical fight with each other and then got in their vehicles and rammed each other.

Police said that at the time the brothers were ramming each other -- about 3:30 a.m. Sunday -- some children were sleeping in tents in a front yard near where the crashes occurred.

The brothers -- Michael Perez, 36, of 769 Camelot Manor in Portage and Eric Perez, 28, of 246 Camelot Estates in Portage -- were arrested Sunday morning on charges of battery, criminal recklessness, drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident. Eric Perez also was arrested on disorderly conduct and resisting charges.

Eric Perez's passenger, Starr Barber, 29, of 246 Camelot Estates, who also lists an address on Jacobs Place in Portage, was arrested on charges of possession of heroin, illegal possession of a prescription drug, possession of paraphernalia and false informing. Police said she possessed heroin and pills in her purse.

Police responded to Camelot Manor to investigate a crash at 3:36 a.m. Sunday and spoke to witnesses who said the Perez brothers used their vehicles to ram each other. A witness also said Eric Perez crashed his pickup truck into a mobile home at 771 Camelot Manor. A witness told police there were children sleeping in tents in the front yard of Michael Perez's home at 769 Camelot Manor during the incident.

A witness also reported seeing Michael Perez crash his Cadillac into some mailboxes and trees.
