The Valparaiso School of Law Running club and Law Libertarians of Valparaiso are heading a 5K benefit run/walk for the victims of the Haiti earthquake. The event begins at 8 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Old Fairgrounds Park on Calumet Avenue. There is no entrance fee to participate but donations are encourages. Refreshments will follow. All proceeds will be donated to CARE, Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere, Inc.

The Tinley Park Arts Council is seeking fine artists to exhibit and sell pieces from 2 to 6 p.m. Feb. 6 at SweetArts. This event is a fine art, wine, microbrew and gourmet fair held at American Chartered Bank in Tinley Park, 171st Street and LaGrange Road.
Space is available for about 15 fine artists such as painters, sculptors, metal works, ceramists and more. The space is free, with a small commission on any sold works payable to the Arts Council Craft items are not accepted.
