Ballroom classes
The Valparaiso Department of Parks and Recreation presents beginning ballroom dance classes for adults offered through Valparaiso Parks and the United Dance Arts Studio of Valparaiso. Beginning Ballroom is for ages 16 and above and is offered 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5 through March 12. The fee is F$78 per single or $120 per couple. All classes are held at the United Dance Arts Studio of Valparaiso, located at 55 Morthland Drive (U.S. 30). To register, visit the Valparaiso Park Office, 3210 N. Sports programs
The Valparaiso Department of Parks and Recreation offers a variety of instruction-based sports programs and leagues for youth ages 3 to 16. Registration has begun for the following programs:
Spring Soccer – coed age 4 through 14
Kick Start Soccer – coed age 3-5
Cal Ripken Baseball – boys ages 9-12
Babe Ruth Baseball – boys ages 13-15
Girls Softball – girls ages 5-16
Valparaiso Coed T-Ball – coed ages 5-6
Cal Ripken Rookie League – coed ages 7-8

Adult yoga
Adult Yoga continues at the Portage Yacht Club on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.
We offer a variety of payment opportunities – monthly, unlimited monthly and drop in fees. All classes are for beginner/intermediate levels, adults age 18+. Please bring a towel or mat to sit on, wear comfortable layers, and bring water. For more information on this program, call Cynthia Smith at (219) 762-1675 ext. 305.

Yoga Day USA 2010
Yoga Day USA 2010 will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 23 at the Portage Yacht Club. for information, call Cynthia Smith at (219) 762-1675, ext. 305.
Calling all scrapprs
An evening of scrapbooking begins at 6 p.m. Jan. 29. Bing holiday photos to create pages for an album. Cost is $12. Call Terri Barnard at (219) 762-1675, ext. 305 for more information.
Daddy/daughter dancer
Daddy/daughter dance is from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 12 in the Oakwood Grand Hall at Woodland Park. The evening is filled with dinner, dancing, music, punch, a corsage and treats. Cost is $35 a couple. A photographer will be available to take photos for an additional charge.
Kids Only fundraiser
A Kid's Only resale fundraiser is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 27 in the Oakwood Grand Hall. Call the park office to reserve a booth. Ten percent of the proceeds will benefit Jacob's Ladder in Portage. Adult supervision required.
Ballroom dance
Ballroom classes are held on Monday nights in the Sycamore Hall at Woodland Park. New classes begin Jan. 25. Beginners start at 7 p.m. and 8:15 for advanced. For information, call Mary at (219) 680-9261.
