Several Duneland School and area school students participated in the American Dairy Association of Indiana, Inc. Dairy and Nutrition Council's "Fuel Up Your Super Bowl Snack" promotion recently.
This is just one of the events that has spurred from Bailly Elementary's participation in the "Fuel Up to Play 60" program sponsored by the NFL and National Dairy Council (NDC).
"Some of our Food Services managers picked up on the contest and offered it at their school and our parents and staff got their children involved," said Lisa Ozimek, Bailly Elementary Food Services satellite manager.
Students participating were Bailly Elementary students Molly Grimes, Adeline McElfresh, Alec Callahan, Kyle Lowery, Cameron Tassler, Ethan and Avery Montgomery, Jakob Kintzele, Hannah Newton; Brummitt Elementary student Ella Rodriguez; St. Patrick School students Natalie and Paul Petro, Chesterton Middle School student Matt Ozimek and Kayla Ferrell; and Michael and Andrew Keith of Portage Schools. All participating students received goodie bags.
Chesterton Middle School seventh grader Kayla Ferrell received first place in the for her recipe for "Yogurt Key Lime Pie" which won the middle school division. Kayla received a Colts autographed football and her recipe has been published in the National Dairy Council cookbook.
