800-pound skateboard ramp stolen from Valparaiso park
VALPARAISO | Valparaiso parks officials reported Saturday that someone stole an 800-pound skateboarding ramp from Rogers-Lakewood Park.
The ramp, which is 15 feet by 8 feet, is made of wood and steel. It was stolen between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Police said several people were probably involved in the theft due to the size of the ramp. The loss is $2,500.
Chesterton man arrested on charge of heroin possession
PORTER | A Chesterton man was arrested on charges which include possession of heroin after Porter police said they stopped him for erratic driving at 6 p.m. Thursday near the Porter police station.
Jonathan Hamilton, 26, of 216 S. 7th St., was arrested on charges of possession of heroin, possession of paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of a dependent.
Police said Hamilton was weaving while driving and hit a curb. Two young children were in his vehicle, they added. Police said he possessed heroin and syringes and the items were accessible to the children. Police said he had 28 empty bags of heroin and 11 bags with heroin.
Woman accused of battering husband, son is arrested
BURNS HARBOR | A Burns Harbor woman was arrested on charges of domestic battery and battery to a juvenile after she was accused of battering her husband and one of her sons.
Jamie Little, 33, of 408 Hickory St., was arrested Sunday night.
Police said Little battered her husband, at which time her two sons tried to separate her from her husband. Police said she proceeded to push her younger son to the ground.
Three injured on Ind. 8; two vehicles collide, land in ditch
BOONE TOWNSHIP | Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 4:32 p.m. Saturday at Ind. 8 and County Road 500 West.
Porter County police said Michael Krueger, 45, of Wheatfield, was southbound on the county road and failed to yield the right of way while crossing Ind. 8. His Mitsubishi Lancer collided with a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was eastbound on Ind. 8. Both vehicles overturned in the ditch southeast of the intersection.
Krueger suffered facial bleeding. The driver of the Jeep, Sherry Meiss, 48, of LaCrosse, complained of arm pain. Her passenger, Dale Meiss, 50, of LaCrosse, complained of abdominal pain.
