Dawson completes basic training

Air Force Airman Dionardo D. Dawson graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Regina Redmond of Tinley Park, Ill., and grandson of Gloria Redmond of Dolton, Ill.

Dawson is a 2009 graduate of Tinley Park High School.

 

Evener graduates from OSUT

Army National Guard Spec. Carol M. Evener has graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo., which included basic military training and advanced individual training (AIT).

During basic military training, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons qualification, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army doctrine, history, principles and traditions.

During AIT, the soldier completed the military police specialist course to acquire skills to provide combat area support, conduct battlefield circulation control, area security, prisoner of war operations, civilian internee operations, and law and order operations.

She is the daughter of Robert E. and Marie C. Evener of Porter.

The specialist graduated in 2005 from Chesterton High School, and received a bachelor's degree in 2009 from Indiana University Northwest.

 

McCants graduates from basic training

Army National Guard Spec. Scott W. McCants has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

He is the son of Mona McCants of Chicago, Ill.

McCants graduated in 2004 from Chicago Vocational School, and received a bachelor's degree in 2008 from Graceland University, Lamoni, Iowa.

 

Hopson completes basic training

Army Pvt. Aaron D. Hopson has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

He is the son of Douglas Hopson of Flossmoor, Ill.

The private is a 2006 graduate of T.F. North High School, Calumet City, Ill.

Alaniz graduates from military training

Air Force Airman Jesus R. Alaniz graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

He is the son of Jesus and Dalinda Alaniz of East Chicago.

Alaniz is a 2009 graduate of Central High School, East Chicago.

Smith completes military training

Air Force Airman Erick Smith graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

He is the godson of Sandra Dolony of Calumet City, Ill.

 

Myers graduates from basic training

Army National Guard Pvt. Matthew R. Myers has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

He is the son of Pam and Robert Myers of Cedar Lake.

Myers is a 2007 graduate of Crown Point High School.
