UNION TOWNSHIP | Burglars smashed through the front glass door of Jeffrey’s Jeweler’s on Monday morning and broke two glass display cases before grabbing jewelry.

Police were called at 6:28 a.m. to the store at 330 W. U.S. 30 and found two sets of footprints in the snow.

Police said two display cases were damaged and it appears jewelry was taken only from those two cabinets.

The owner told police about $1,000 worth of jewelry was taken.

Police estimated the damage to the business at about $2,000.

The case remains under investigation.
