Robbery. A Chesterton man, 20, and a Kouts woman, 18, told police they were at Dogwood Park at 10:55 p.m. when two men with shaved heads and tattoos robbed them. However, during the investigation, police said they learned that did not occur as the two originally described. The man and woman admitted they had been in Liberty Township to sell drugs, the deal went bad, and they were robbed by the buyer, police said. Police have submitted the information to the Porter County prosecutor's office for possible charges of false informing.
WEDNESDAY
Vandalism. The rear door of Anton Insurance Co., 155 S. Calumet, was smashed. The estimated damage is $200.
Vandalism. While police were investigating the damage to the rear door of Anton Insurance, they found someone had shattered two windows at the rear of Worldwide Wireless, 123 S. Calumet. The estimated damage is $200.
Theft. Susan Shields, of Waverly Road, reported someone stole a black plastic skateboard ramp from in front of her home. The estimated loss is $50.
Bicycle theft. Karyn Witt and Tracey Merryman, both of Chesterton, reported their sons' bicycles were stolen while left unsecured at the Westchester Public Library at 200 Indiana Ave. The total estimated loss is $270.

Criminal mischief. Jerry Scott, of Jackson Street, reported his car was shot by a BB gun.

Theft. Judy Bodo, 63, of Portage, was arrested on a theft charge after loss prevention officials at Town and Country Market, 6046 Central Ave., told police Bodo passed through her daughter Jill Bodo's line and left the store without paying for many items. Police said Jill Bodo passed every item past the scanner, but not every item was scanned. Charges against the daughter are possible.

Criminal mischief. Timothy McGuire, of Pinewood Drive, reported a tire on his vehicle was slashed.

WEDNESDAY
Arrest. Aaron Christy, 33, of Hebron, was arrested on a charge of being a sex offender not possessing identification. Police stopped Christy, a convicted child molester, for a routine traffic stop. He did not have his driver's license -- a requirement for sex offenders.
