VALPARAISO | Three Illinois men were ticketed last weekend for illegally fishing, officials said.
The three men were caught netting salmon and trout near Salt Creek by Indiana conservation officers, according to a Department of Natural Resources news release.
In another case, a Hammond man and a Cedar Lake man were issued citations for fishing within 100 feet of the Linde Dam on the Little Calumet River.
The two men also were issued tickets for possessing a gaff hook, which is illegal to have on or adjacent to Lake Michigan tributaries, officials said.
DNR officials said they've had several complaints locally about illegal fishing during the last few weeks and have stepped up enforcement.
Fishing regulations for this area are available online at www.in.gov/dnr.
