Duneland is not only a great place to enjoy some of the greatest restaurants in the region, but they also boast food shops that can't be found anywhere else. These specialty food shops bring in foodies from all around for a taste of the good life.

Heather Ennis, executive director of the Chesterton/Duneland Chamber of Commerce says, "Artisan food shops in general bring a great clientele to the area. The food connoisseur will spend additional money for those items and so the stores really benefit the region. They make the town special. You can't find these things anywhere else. People who have discriminating tastes when it comes to their food will shop accordingly."

One of those shops is Butler Winery at 401 Broadway in Chesterton. Butler Winery was established in Bloomington, Ind. In 1983 and is the fourth oldest operating winery in Indiana. They have two locations in Bloomington as well as the one in Chesterton. Grapes are in the Indiana Uplands viticultural area. This region in south central Indiana produces wines of distinctive character using Vignoles, Vidal, Chambourcin, Chardonel and Cabernet Franc. Butler Winery uses small American Oak barrels for the aging of their Ruby Port, the dry Chambourcin wines, and the fermentation of their Chardonel. They offer tasting of all of their wines in a store that also stocks a variety of crackers, both domestic and imported cheeses, and also summer sausage and salami.

Lucrezia Good to Go at 420 S. Calumet in Chesterton is the sister store to the Lucrezia Café & Restaurant next door. You'll also find unusual coffees and teas, both bulk and packaged, many of which are fair-traded and organic. They have a huge selection of chocolates, candy, nuts, and seeds and you can even make your own peanut butter fresh from bulk peanuts, right in the store. They have plenty of classes each month and events with guest teachers.
