CHESTERTON | Bailly Elementary second graders, right to left, Hillary Reibly and Aubrey Capehart pet grandmother Sharon Capehart's dog at the second grade annual pet parade. Second grade students bring a pet to school for the class to enjoy. The parade coincides with learning experiences about pets that the second graders have been reading about in their reading series, and the character education pillar of responsibility that is discussed at the beginning of the school year. This year the parade capitalized on both of these areas of study. Second grade students will culminate this unit with a trip to the zoo and a timed writing on 'the perfect pet'.
