CHESTERTON | The public is invited to join museum staff in a birthday celebration for Alice Gray, also known as Diana of the Dunes. The drop-in event will take place at the Westchester Township History Museum, 700 W. Porter Avenue, Chesterton, on Wednesday, March 27, from 1-5 p.m. Attendance is free of charge and no registration is necessary.
Janet Edwards, author of Diana of the Dunes: The True Story of Alice Gray will provide a birthday cake from Tanya’s Patisserie for the occasion. Stop by and help honor the memory of a local legend, enjoy a piece of cake, and take the time to view the two temporary exhibits, Police Departments of Westchester Township and Death in Duneland.
The Westchester Township History Museum, a free cultural and educational service of Westchester Public Library, is housed in the Brown Mansion at 700 W. Porter Ave., Chesterton. The museum is open to the public Wednesday-Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Groups may make reservations for tours by calling the museum at 983-9715.
